Tampa Bay Buccaneers @ New Orleans Saints Sun. Nov. 6, 2011 1 p.m. EST
The NFC South division title is up for grabs right now with three teams in the division having a legitimate shot at winning the title and making their way into the playoffs. The New Orleans Saints are atop the division standings right now with a 5-3 record coming into Week 9, but that could quickly change as Drew Brees and company are set to face off against the division rival Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
A few weeks ago, the Saints traveled to Tampa Bay to take on their division rivals in a game they probably should have won, but the Bucs got the better of Sean Payton’s squad and made the race for the division title that much more interesting. With the Bucs having the edge over the Saints in the division, New Orleans will come into this matchup with a must-win attitude as a loss could be devastating to their chances of winning the division title and getting back into the playoffs.
Even though the New Orleans Saints are arguably the better all-around team coming into Week 9, Drew Brees and company really struggled last week against the lowly St. Louis Rams and lost to one of the worst teams in the league in convincing fashion, 31-21. After lighting up the winless Indianapolis Colts with a 62-point effort, the Saints were thought to destroy the Rams in similar fashion, but that wasn’t the case as both the offense and the defense struggled against St. Louis.
As of right now, the New Orleans Saints are heavily favored to win this NFC South division showdown with a -9 point spread. This spread is way too high in my opinion as the Bucs should make this a close game.
