It’s been a long time since the Milwaukee Bucks were a relevant team in the NBA. The head coaching position has been a revolving door while no big-name players want to play in the cold climate of Milwaukee. Basically, the Bucks are a team that simply hasn’t been able to become a force in the Eastern Conference and as a result is never considered to be a team going anywhere.
Although a lot of changes have taken place over the past few years with numerous trades, draft picks and head coaches coming and going, the Bucks were able to clinch a playoff spot in the East this season. Milwaukee made a bold move to acquire Monta Ellis from the Golden State Warriors in exchange for former number one overall pick Andrew Bogut.
No one in Milwaukee was all that sore about seeing the often injured Bogut leaving town in exchange for one of the most dynamic scorers in the league, but Ellis wasn’t expected to be sticking around once officially a free agent. With Ellis being a valuable young player in the league and able to provide instant offense as a starter or in a backup capacity, the rising star will receive considerable interest once available, but the Bucks are apparently ready to keep him in Milwaukee for the long haul with a lucrative deal.
Brandon Jennings was thought to be the future of the struggling Bucks franchise. Jennings is a unique player with the ability to be one of the best scorers and distributors in the league, but can be a problem at times in terms of attitude.
Apparently, the Bucks are ready to part ways with Jennings in order to keep Ellis for the long-term. It remains to be seen if this is truly possible, but Milwaukee will make an attempt to do so this summer.
