The only thing that people have been talking about in the NBA lately is the lockout and the potential for many veteran and star players heading overseas. Even though there seems to be a very good possibility that players like Deron Williams, Kobe Bryant and Dwight Howard could be taking their talents overseas, the most recent news to come out of the league in the middle of a long and drawn out lockout is a serious car accident in New York.

As arguably the second most disappointing team in the Western Conference playoffs last season, the San Antonio Spurs being the first, the Los Angeles Lakers have been rumored to be seeking a blockbuster trade in order to put them right back on top again. Even if the Lakeshow doesn’t make a move during the NBA lockout, Kobe Bryant and company will still be one of the best all-around teams in the league, but one player that might no longer be with the team moving forward is reigning Sixth Man of the Year Lamar Odom.

Unfortunately, even though he is coming off his best season with the Lakers and in the NBA for that matter, Odom could be on his way out and has already been linked in trade rumors in Lakerland. There is no question that LO being rumored to be heading elsewhere is affecting the star forward, but last Thursday basketball and his future in the NBA was the furthest thing from his mind as he was involved in a serious accident in New York.

Fortunately, the Lakers star was unharmed in this accident as he was just a passenger, but the same can’t be said for the two others involved. Apparently, a motorcyclist and a 15-year-old pedestrian were seriously injured and taken immediately to the hospital.

Lamar Odom was in town to attend his cousin’s funeral and to film a Nike commercial. Khloe Kardashian was not in the car at the time of the accident.
