The San Antonio Spurs have reached the NBA Finals for the fifth time in the Greg Popovich-Tim Duncan era. Popovich and company are looking to go a perfect 5-0 in Finals appearances with Duncan leading the way with the dynasty potentially coming to an end with another title or a loss at the hands of LeBron James and company.
The Heat has been as advertised this season with the team built around superstars Dwyane Wade, Chris Bosh and LeBron. After winning a first NBA title, LeBron is aiming to make it two in a row at the expense of the team that swept the Cleveland Cavaliers back in 2007 leaving a lot of doubt about whether or not the superstar would be able to win a title in Cleveland.
LeBron will have a shot at redemption while improving his already impressive resume in this series. Although the Heat are the early favorites to win a second straight NBA title, the Spurs will be a challenging opponent with plenty of players on the roster posing threats to Miami’s chances of repeating.
The two players on the Spurs squad that will pose the biggest challenges for the Heat in the Finals will be point guard Tony Parker and future Hall of Famer Tim Duncan. Parker may prove to be the biggest challenge for LeBron and company as he’s been virtually unguardable in every round leading up to the Finals.
Even though Parker will be difficult for the Heat to contain, LeBron will also pose a big problem from the Spurs. Despite the Parker and LeBron poses different threats, San Antonio may ultimately come out on top in this series in order to win a fifth title and put the icing on the cake of an incredible dynasty for the Spurs.
Prediction: Spurs in 7
