The Andy Reid era in Philadelphia will last at least one more week with the team’s biggest change after an eighth consecutive loss is naming rookie Nick Foles the starting quarterback for the rest of the season.

Although the job status of Reid is the main topic of discussion in Philadelphia, the quarterback change for the rest of the season is intriguing to say the least and might be quite telling moving forward. Michael Vick will not return as the starter for the final four games of the year even if cleared after concussion tests.

With Foles running the show under center, the Eagles haven’t done much better than when Vick was the starter. Philadelphia is currently on an eight-game losing streak heading into Week 14’s matchup with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Foles is coming off perhaps his best game as a starter after throwing for 251 yards and a touchdown without an interception in the loss to the Dallas Cowboys. Unfortunately, Foles was outplayed by Tony Romo who led the Cowboys to victory on Sunday night with 303 yards and three touchdowns.

Even though the Eagles have been a resounding disappointment once again this season, there is some light at the end of the tunnel with backup running back Bryce Brown making a name for himself in place of injured Pro Bowler LeSean McCoy. Brown ran for 169 yards and two touchdowns in Week 13 coming only nine yards shy of last week’s total of 179 yards and two scores.

The Eagles will continue to ride Brown for the rest of the season and hope Foles comes around while debating the fate of Reid during the final four games of the regular season. There’s a good chance that Philadelphia decides to wipe the slate clean and start anew in many different positions next season.
