Jets @ Jaguars Sunday, Dec. 3, 2012 1 p.m. ET
The New York Jets are a talented football team on the both sides of the ball with a potentially bright future with the current squad intact. Unfortunately, the current roster hasn’t been able to come together after two consecutive trips to the AFC Championship game a few years ago.
Head coach Rex Ryan has been on the hot seat for the majority of the 2012 NFL season and that will likely continue in the final four games. Ryan’s fate, along with starting quarterback Mark Sanchez’s future, may be up in the air moving forward.
If New York struggles in these final regular season games, drastic changes may follow for the Jets with a potentially new-look roster and coaching staff on the horizon.
In Week 14, the Jets have decided to go with Sanchez under center instead of naming Greg McElroy or Tim Tebow the starter for the matchup against the Jacksonville Jaguars on the road.
Although the Jaguars have been arguably one of the worst teams in the league this season, the team has experienced resurgence as of late with veteran Chad Henne taking over for the injured Blaine Gabbert. Henne immediately struck up some much-needed chemistry with rookie wide receiver Justin Blackmon and the combination has been lethal thus far.
Heading into this matchup with the Jets in Jacksonville, the Jaguars’ season is over with only two wins on the year and no chance of a playoff berth in the AFC. The Jaguars will be playing for pride while the Jets will be playing for the futures of big-names and a potential playoff berth.
AS of right now, the Jets are favored to get the win on the road with a -3 point spread. New York may be a team that has failed to live up to expectations, but should get the job done in Jacksonville this Sunday.
Take the Jets at -3.
