Giants @ Cowboys Sunday, Oct. 28, 2012 4:25 p.m. ET
The defending Super Bowl champion New York Giants continue to prove they haven’t missed a beat since winning a title for the second time in five years with Eli Manning running the show under center.
The defense might not be up to par with mediocre numbers at best, but the offense has begun to hit its stride with Manning proving his elite status at the quarterback position. The Giants will head into Week 8 as the third best passing team in the league with 295.3 passing yards per game.
Needless to say, New York sits amongst the best teams in the NFC Conference this season and will look to gain some serious ground in the NFC East division this weekend with a win over the arch rival Dallas Cowboys.
Ironically enough, the Giants have only lost to divisional opponents this season. The first loss came against the Cowboys (24-17) right out of the gate and the second was against the Philadelphia Eagles (19-17) three weeks later.
With that being said, this matchup against the Cowboys will be intriguing to say the least. Tom Coughlin’s squad will attempt to avenge the Week 1 loss while trying to distance themselves from Dallas and Philadelphia within the division.
Even though the Giants destroyed the San Francisco 49ers (26-3) two weeks ago, New York was given a run for their money last week against Robert Griffin III and the Washington Redskins (27-23). Containing Griffin was a problem, but it didn’t stop the Giants from coming out on top.
As of right now, the defending champs are slight favorites in Week 8 with a -1 point spread and that may very well be a lock with the way the Cowboys have been playing as of late.
Take the Giants at -1.
