After throwing three interceptions in the first quarter against the Atlanta Falcons on Monday night, four-time NFL MVP Peyton Manning began to look human once again after an impressive performance against the Pittsburgh Steelers a week earlier in his debut for the Denver Broncos.
Once having turned the football over three times, the Broncos were thought to have little chance to make a comeback against Matt Ryan and company. With the Falcons seemingly firing on all cylinders, Denver basically considered this game a loss.
Fortunately, Manning was able to lead the team back into the game with a chance to come out on top late in the fourth quarter. Despite a valiant effort, the Broncos lost their first game of the season to a very good Falcons squad that may very well be Super Bowl bound.
In Week 3, the Broncos will get back to work in the Mile High City taking a familiar foe for Manning in the AFC South’s Houston Texans. With the Texans looking as good as any team in the AFC Conference thus far, Houston will be yet another tough challenge for Denver.
All aspects of the Texans’ game plan seem to be coming together as they were able to dispatch the Miami Dolphins (30-10) in Week 1 and follow that win up with a win over the Jacksonville Jaguars (27-7).
Although the Texans appear to be one of the better teams in the league heading into Week 3, Matt Schaub and company have yet to face a formidable opponent. The Broncos will be the first real test for the up-and-coming team destined to repeat as AFC South division champions.
As of right now, the Texans are favored with a -3 point spread. Manning’s squad will put up a fight to avoid going 1-2, but Houston is clearly the better football team.
Take the Texans at -3.
