After considering the Atlanta Falcons and the New York Jets for the new season of HBO’s Hard Knocks, the Miami Dolphins has been chosen as the team to be featured on the popular show throughout NFL training camp.

The consensus was that with the arrival of superstar quarterback Tim Tebow in the Big Apple that the Jets would be the favorite to become the team featured on the show for a second time. Unfortunately for New York and the fans of the storied NFL franchise, the Jets declined the invitation to appear on the show. The Falcons also declined to be on the show due to the fact that they didn’t want the off the field distraction that the show can bring.

With HBO going with the Dolphins, Miami will be put under the spotlight with Hard Knocks first episode premiering on Aug. 7. Choosing the Dolphins was an interesting decision to say the least with Miami not exactly being the sexy pick compared to the likes of the Falcons and the Jets declining the invite.

Coming into the 2012 NFL season, the Dolphins will have a new head coach in Joe Philbin formerly of the Green Bay Packers and rookie quarterback Ryan Tannehil of Texas A & M. Along with the addition of a new head coach and potential starting quarterback, Miami has also added veteran gunslinger David Garrard with the likes of starter Matt Moore.

It’ll be interesting to see whether or not the Dolphins being featured on this show will be enough to draw fans. The Jets appearance on the show was a great success and will be enough to bring interest back to the show after a one year layoff due to the NFL lockout, but the Dolphins might not be interesting enough for the show to be a success this time around.
