The New York Mets have signed former NFL quarterback Tim Tebow to a minor league contract, ESPN is reporting. The 29-year-old has officially signed a baseball contract with the New York Mets, the team confirmed via Twitter. Alderson said after instructional league, Tebow may play in the Arizona Fall League if he has shown the aptitude to play in the league typically reserved for top prospects.

The Florida QB won the Heisman Trophy in 2007 and helped the Gators to two national championships. Over the past few days, the Atlanta Braves and the Toronto Blue Jays seemed the have had the most interest, but early this morning, neither team signed Tebow.

When Sandy Alderson initially was asked one month ago whether the New York Mets would consider signing Tim Tebow, the general manager joked: "Are you insinuating we need a Hail Mary at this point?" But all of those players played baseball in college and started their professional careers at a much younger age than Tebow.

With Tebow gearing up for a baseball season, you might think that his time at the SEC Network would be coming to an end.
