#1 Miami Heat (21-7)
As long as the Big 3 in South Beach stay healthy from here on out, there will be no stopping the Miami Heat from reaching the NBA Finals for a second straight season. A big test will come on Monday night when the Heat face the Milwaukee Bucks for the third time this season and will try to avoid a three-game losing streak against Brandon Jennings and company.
#2 San Antonio Spurs (19-9)
The one team in the NBA that no one seems to be talking about this season is the San Antonio Spurs. With most people believing the Spurs were done coming into this season after the playoffs collapse last year, San Antonio has been able to fly under the radar and pave the way to an impressive 19 wins thus far in 28 games.
Not only have the Spurs defied the odds, but they have been this good without Manu Ginobili who just returned to the lineup.
#3 Chicago Bulls (23-7)
Reigning NBA MVP Derrick Rose is still banged up with ailing back problems that couldn’t threaten Chicago’s run in the playoffs, but so far they are playing well with other players picking up the slack for one of the league’s best point guards.
#4 Los Angeles Clippers (17-8)
Lob City continues to wow NBA fans around this country with Chris Paul and Blake Griffin quickly turning into one of the league’s most lethal combinations. The Clippers suffered a costly blow recently with the season-ending injury to Chauncey Billups (Achilles), but the team does seem to be the favorites to sign free agent J.R. Smith which will make this team that much more talented and that much more dangerous moving forward.
#5 Oklahoma City Thunder (21-6)
The Oklahoma City Thunder is still arguably the most talented young team in the NBA, but they continue to not get the credit they deserve.
