After almost two months of shortened NBA season in the books, the consensus around the league and among NBA analysts is that the Miami Heat is the best team in the league hands down. With LeBron James playing at an MVP level once again and the team really starting to come together, there seems to be no stopping the Heat. Even though the Heat are cruising right now, president Pat Riley would love to make a trade before the NBA trade deadline (March 15) to acquire a big man and center Chris Kaman seems to be the number one target for Miami.
Now that the New Orleans Hornets have cut their losses after the Chris Paul trade and basically have no chance at making the playoffs at this point in time, the NBA would like to trade Chris Kaman before the deadline. With that being said, the Hornets have been fielding offers from teams all over the league interested in the All-Star caliber center.
There have been a few teams in the NBA that have made inquiries about Kaman over the last few weeks after the Hornets let it be known that he is on the trading block, but New Orleans and the NBA seem to be waiting for just the right deal. There is no question that the Hornets franchise is pretty picky these days after the vetoed Chris Paul deal to the Los Angeles Lakers, but there is no doubt they would love to deal Kaman elsewhere and possibly get some youth and cleared cap space in return.
With a month left to go before the NBA trade deadline on March 15, the New Orleans Hornets will probably be taking a lot of calls from teams in the league looking for an upgrade or solid back up at the center position. The Miami Heat is seemingly the most interested team at this point in time.
