Heading into training camp and preseason, the Denver Broncos and new head coach John Fox were right smack dab in the middle of a heated quarterback controversy. With arguably three of the best quarterbacks in the league in terms of being a talented trio, the Broncos have had the daunting task of trying to pick a starter between three quarterbacks that could start for many teams around the league.

Even though Kyle Orton seemed to be the number one guy all along in the Mile High City, Brady Quinn and second-year man Tim Tebow were in a bit of quarterback battle for the second spot and possibly the starting role. Orton eventually became the starter for the second straight season for the Broncos, but after Monday night’s loss to the arch rival Oakland Raiders (23-20), the passionate fans in Denver are calling for Orton’s head and lobbying for Tebow as the starting quarterback.

Reportedly, head coach John Fox has no intentions of making a change at quarterback and every NFL analyst around the country agrees with him. Of course, the league is only heading into the second week of the regular season, but if the Broncos continue to struggle offense a change might be on the horizon.

The ironic part of this quarterback controversy in Denver is the fact that Tim Tebow is the third quarterback on the depth chart behind Kyle Orton and Brady Quinn. With that being said if a change were to be made it would be bringing in Quinn to replace Orton instead of Tebow.

Ultimately, Tim Tebow will be the face of this storied NFL franchise and might be a very good starter in this league, but as of right now the starter in the Mile High City is Kyle Orton.
