The Denver Broncos are coming off a horrible season in which nothing seemed to go right for the storied NFL franchise. Not only did they miss the playoffs yet again and fail to live up to expectations, but they were the worst team in the AFC West division.
Fortunately, despite missing the playoffs and having the distinction as the AFC West’ worst, the Broncos did see some light at the end of the tunnel as rookie quarterback Tim Tebow looked pretty good in the last three games of the season. With Kyle Orton going down with injury, Tim Tebow was given the nod to take over under center to finish the season and began to turn some heads with some impressive numbers.
Even though Tim Tebow played pretty well in the last three games of the NFL regular season, the Denver Broncos were still weighing their options at quarterback and who they wanted as their starter to start the upcoming NFL regular season. Tim Tebow looked like he was going to be the man under center as the Denver Broncos were discussing a trade to send quarterback Kyle Orton to the Miami Dolphins, but the deal fell through.
With the trade falling apart, the Broncos gave Orton another shot to show that he was still the team’s starting quarterback and apparently he has convinced new head coach John Fox that he is the starter.
Reportedly, Tim Tebow is the number two quarterback on the Denver Broncos’ current depth chart. This is the right move by the Broncos in my opinion as I believe that Tebow still isn’t ready to put the team on his back as the starting quarterback. There is no question that Kyle Orton is the better quarterback right now and Tim Tebow will benefit from another season on the sidelines and the mentoring by a proven starter like Kyle Orton.
