Dallas Cowboys’ Miles Austin sidelined until week 1 of NFL Season

Over the past half-decade or so, the Dallas Cowboys have always been considered a legitimate Super Bowl title contender heading into the NFL regular season. With a seemingly unstoppable offense on paper and a formidable defense, America’s Team always stands a chance to become a force to be reckoned with in the NFC Conference.

Unfortunately, despite all the talent this team has on both sides of the football, the Cowboys never seem to live up to the hype. The reason for the disappointing seasons can’t be attributed to one thing or another, but as a collective.

Heading into the 2012 NFL regular season, the boys from Dallas will be under similar pressure to produce results once again. As perhaps the player with the most pressure to excel will be quarterback Tony Romo, but the veteran gunslinger will find that harder to accomplish without a healthy receiving corps.

Reportedly, wide receiver Miles Austin isn’t firing on all cylinders at the moment. Apparently, Austin is suffering from a strained hamstring that was sustained earlier this month. The hamstring injury is severe enough that he won’t play a single down for the rest of the preseason.

Despite missing the rest of the Cowboys preseason games, Austin will supposedly be ready for the Week 1 season-opener against the defending Super Bowl champion and arch division rival New York Giants.

Along with Austin’s ailing hamstring, the Cowboys are also dealing with two other injuries that will drastically change the look and feel of the offense moving forward. Romo will be without receiver Dez Bryant and tight end Jason Witten. Both players are suffering from injuries that will also keep them out until Week 1 and potentially longer.

Witten is the injured star that concerns the team the most moving forward as he tries to recover from a lacerated spleen that he suffered in the preseason opener. No timetable set for his return.
