Heading into Saturday’s NFL preseason games, everyone was looking forward to seeing the defending Super Bowl champion Green Bay Packers getting back on the field. With the Packers back to full health with the exception of tight end Jermichael Finley who was held out as a precaution, the consensus was that the Cleveland Browns would be in for a long day trying to keep up with the potent offense and lockdown defense of Green Bay.
Unfortunately for the defending champs, that wasn’t the case as the Packers didn’t look very good in their first preseason game, but it was the Browns that made headlines as second-year quarterback Colt McCoy was on his game.
In his first season with the Cleveland Browns last year, rookie quarterback Colt McCoy didn’t look very good at all and had a lot of people talking about whether or not this kid was going to turn into the future face of the franchise. Despite the rocky rookie season for the former Texas Longhorn, Colt McCoy gave Cleveland Browns fans hope for the future as he looked really sharp in his first preseason game against the Green Bay Packers.
Colt McCoy didn’t play past the second quarter, but all he needed was a short amount of time to leave a lasting impression on his team and around the league. McCoy only made ten passes, but he completed nine of those passes for 135 yards and a passing touchdown to wide receiver Josh Cribbs. This is a just a taste of what might be on the horizon for the Browns and so far things are looking good in Cleveland as McCoy might be the breakout quarterback for this upcoming NFL regular season.
Running back Peyton Hillis also got in the mix against the Green Bay Packers with a rushing touchdown. The Cleveland Browns went on to beat the defending Super Bowl champions, 27-17.

You do know that the Packer field their free agency/rookies for most of the game right? Even when McCoy was playing the defence play their vanilla scheme, they didint bliz even once. JMF, Shield and Woodson sat the game. And Packer field their 3rd string quarterback for most of the game after no.2 Flynn went down. Yeah McCoy did well but I woundnt be to excited if I were you until the third preseason game when most team play their starters.
