It looks like the Washington Redskins will be without QB Donovan McNabb for their next pre-season game this Friday against the New York Jets as he is having issues with his ankle, which apparently began during Saturday’s game against the Baltimore Ravens, in which Baltimore claimed a victory.

At practice on Monday, McNabb, who was traded from Philadelphia to Washington in April, was wearing a protective boot and he was limited to participation in the practice. The Atlanta Thrashers announced Monday they have re-signed free agent Bryan Little to a three-year contract. The contract is reportedly worth just over $7 million.

The 22-year-old restricted free agent forward was drafted in the 2006 NHL Entry Draft during the first round as the 12th overall draft selection. During his first season with the Thrashers, Little appeared in 48 games in which he totaled 6 goals and 10 assists for 16 points. Last season, he recorded only 13 goals and 21 assists for 34 points in 79 total games after recording 31 goals and 20 assists for 51 points during his first complete 79-game NHL season, which was the 2008-2009 season. It took several attempts for Albert Haynesworth to finally pass his conditioning test so that he could begin practicing with the Washington Redskins. Many even so much as believed that when he passed it, he really didn’t.

However, whether he did pass or he didn’t, Haynesworth supposedly had been diagnosed with rhabdomyolysis, which in laymen’s terms is a condition that breaks down the skeletal muscles and releases myoglobin into the body’s bloodstream. It was just earlier this month when the Seattle Seahawks and their top pick, Russell Okung, came to agreement on terms for a six-year contract after missing the initial eight days of the Seahawks training camp.

Chosen as the number 6 overall pick in the 2010 NFL Draft agreed to this contract worth over $29 million in guaranteed money with a maximum worth of nearly $60 million and was looking forward to taking the Seahawks as far as he could as a starter this year. Various media sources have reported that veteran catcher Rod Barajas for the New York Mets has been acquired off waivers by the Los Angeles Dodgers. The official announcement came just prior to Sunday’s baseball game where the Dodgers will go up against the Cincinnati Reds. Three weeks ago, the Philadelphia Phillies lost their first baseman Ryan Howard to the disabled list. He was sliding into second base on August 1 at Washington and sustained a left ankle sprain. He is now back and ready to play.

The Phillies activated All-Star Howard from the 15-day DL just before Saturday’s game against the Washington Nationals. He played Friday night for a rehab stint at which time he has a single walk, a single RBI and went 1-for-2. Apart from his rehab game Friday, he is currently batting an average of .292 with 23 home runs, 81 runs batted in, as well as 17 doubles in his 104 appearances this 2010 MLB season. Rookie Kerry Meier, receiver for the Atlanta Falcons, will be unable to attend his rookie season due to an injury to his knee. While the extent of the damage and the injury has not yet been disclosed, we do know that the injury is serious and will keep him out the rest of this NFL season.

Rookie quarterback Tim Tebow misses yet another practice with the Denver Broncos. This is the second consecutive practice that Tebow has missed since sustaining an injury to his ribs in Sunday’s exhibition game against the Cincinnati Bengals. While the reason he hasn’t been participating in practices and may not play in the home opener this weekend, the Denver Broncos are not releasing any type of official information relevant to Tebow’s issue; however, it’s safe for us all to assume it’s from the hit in Sunday’s exhibition game. Boston Red Sox has been having one thing after another and they just keep getting hit with bad news. It’s been determined that Jacoby Ellsbury (pictured) has a fractured rib and he is likely out for the rest of this 2010 MLB season. While I say it’s bad news for the Red Sox, Ellsbury hasn’t exactly been on top of his game this season anyhow so it may not be such a loss cause. Earlier this year, he collided with a teammate (Beltre), fractured five ribs at the time, and is now suffering from a fractured rib again. He can’t catch a break this year – very disappointing since he led the Major League with a total of 70 stolen bases in the 2009 MLB season. Continue Reading…
