Albert Haynesworth Reportedly Had Rhabdomyolysis

It took several attempts for Albert Haynesworth to finally pass his conditioning test so that he could begin practicing with the Washington Redskins. Many even so much as believed that when he passed it, he really didn’t.

However, whether he did pass or he didn’t, Haynesworth supposedly had been diagnosed with rhabdomyolysis, which in laymen’s terms is a condition that breaks down the skeletal muscles and releases myoglobin into the body’s bloodstream. It can cause you to feel nauseated and dizzy as well as cause you to become dehydrated – all symptoms of which that Haynesworth had last week.

Haynesworth is anything but happy with Coach Shanahan as he was claiming that the defensive linebacker was sidelined last week for practice due to a headache, but it was much more than that. Based off of various media reports, it seems as if the Redskins actually are underplaying his condition. Now, whether this is true or not, I don’t know – Coach could just be trying to keep the media in a rut.

As for rhabdomyolysis , it usually only takes a week or two to recover from this condition if it is a mild case, which is probably why Haynesworth played in Saturday’s game against Baltimore even though he wasn’t permitted to play until the second half with the reserves simply due to missing three days of practice last week.

Haynesworth and Shanahan’s relationship is rocky at best but if another mishap comes between them, it could get ugly. On the other side of that spectrum, though, Shanahan knows the type of player Haynesworth is and just what he can contribute to the team and he plans to continue to search for that but in the meantime, he’s not letting up. Haynesworth only participated in five of the 18 practices during training camp. Coach says that Haynesworth has gotten away with not practicing in the past but still playing and he says that it’s not going to be like that this year for him or for any other player on the team. No practice, no play.
