In Game 3 of the first-round series between the Los Angeles Lakers and the Denver Nuggets, George Karl’s squad dominated Kobe Bryant and company with a run-and-gun offense led by up-and-coming point guard Ty Lawson. The combination of speed and surprisingly good play from rookie Kenneth Faried and JaVale McGee was too much for the Lakers to handle, but Sunday’s Game 4 was a different story. Continue Reading…
After arguably one of the most thrilling playoff games in recent memory in which the Los Angeles Clippers erased a 21-point deficit in the fourth quarter to beat the Memphis Grizzlies, Game 2 turned in favor of Memphis with the Grizzlies putting on a show in front of their home crowd before heading to the City of Angels for the next two games. The come-from-behind victory of the Clippers no doubt hurt the confidence of the Grizzlies, but it may have motivated them heading into Game 2. Continue Reading…
After losing two straight and tying an NBA playoff record for 12 consecutive losses, the New York Knicks were backed into a corner and looked like they were on the same path as they were during the last postseason. As if the loss weren’t bad enough with a 2-0 hole to come back from heading to the Big Apple, the Knicks would have to do it without Amare Stoudemire (hand) and Jeremy Lin (knee). Continue Reading…
After destroying the Denver Nuggets in Game 1 of the first round of the NBA playoffs, the Los Angeles Lakers proved that they were ready to make another title run in the Kobe Bryant era. Not only was Kobe on his game right out of the gate with a game-high 31 points in Game 1, but the team was firing on all cylinders with Andrew Bynum recording a triple-double and all five starters scoring in double digits. As arguably the most anticipated matchup in the first round of the NBA playoffs, the Los Angeles Clippers and the Memphis Grizzlies went head-to-head on Sunday and didn’t disappoint. Even though the league was buzzing about Derrick Rose’s season-ending injury and the Los Angeles Lakers destroying the Denver Nuggets, the Clippers stole the show on Sunday with an impressive come-from-behind win over the Grizzlies, 99-98. As arguably the most unappreciated and least watched All-Star game in professional sports, the NFL Pro Bowl is not exactly a big revenue stream from the most popular sport in this country. Even though every player in the league wants to become a perennial Pro Bowler or at least get voted onto a team once or twice in their careers, playing in the game is nowhere near as important as actually being dubbed a Pro Bowler. Three of the best all-around teams in the league with the best chances of reaching the NBA Finals both in the Eastern and Western Conference will tip-off their postseason on Saturday. The Chicago Bulls, Miami Heat and the Oklahoma City Thunder will get the festivities underway as they try to pave their way to the Finals. Continue Reading…
The NBA has finally made a decision on the fate of Los Angeles Lakers forward Metta World Peace after elbowing James Harden of the Oklahoma City Thunder this past Sunday. After taking a few days to mull over the options, the league has decided to hit World Peace with a seven game suspension. This suspension will keep him out of the regular season finale against the division rival Sacramento Kings and the first round of the playoffs unless it goes the full seven games. Continue Reading…
After the Metta World Peace fallout with James Harden being sent to the locker room and a suspension likely to follow, the Los Angeles Lakers began to fall apart with the Oklahoma City Thunder motivated and ready to prove who the best team in the Western Conference is. Shortly after the ejection of World Peace, the Thunder got out to a commanding 18-point lead and seemingly had the game in hand, but that turned out not to be the case. Continue Reading…
As arguably the most talked about player in the NBA this season, Dwight Howard of the Orlando Magic has been in the spotlight ever since last summer with trade speculation surrounding the three-time Defensive Player of the Year. With Howard making it known that he intended on being traded before the NBA trade deadline on March 15, it seemed like just a matter of time before he would be dealt elsewhere. Continue Reading…
