Hotline set up to help farmers affected by pipeline protests

After openly protesting on a range of issues from politics to social issues, the Latina actress is praising fellow actress Shailene Woodley for her recent efforts.

On Monday, around 200 people gathered in North Dakota for a peaceful protest against the DAPL.

The Divergent star and 26 other activists were arrested during a protest against the construction of the Dakota Access Pipeline in North Dakota on Monday (10Oct16).

The protests have drawn thousands of people to the area where Texas-based Energy Transfer Partners is trying to wrap up construction on the $3.8 billion, 1,200-mile pipeline from North Dakota to IL.

She was one of around 100 demonstrators who staged the peaceful protest in Sioux County on the site of the pipeline, which will transport crude oil from North Dakota to IL.

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers on Tuesday filed its response to the tribe's lawsuit challenging the corps for approving permits at 200 water crossings.
