A new CNN report, quotes Elon Musk saying: "Still working on the Falcon fireball investigation", Musk said on Twitter.
No one was hurt in the Sept 1 blast, which happened as the rocket was being fuelled ahead of a standard, pre-launch test known as a static-fire at Cape Canaveral, Florida.
In the immediate aftermath, Musk said the trouble appeared to originate around the upper stage's oxygen tank.
In particular, Musk was focused on a "quieter bang sound" that he heard a few seconds before the explosion. He said the sound may have come from the rocket or another unidentified source.
He also thanked NASA, the Federal Aviation Administration and U.S. Air Force for their help during the investigation.
"Loss of Falcon vehicle today during propellant fill operation", Musk tweeted in the wake of the blast.

Before that, SpaceX had logged 18 successful launches of the Falcon 9 - including six of 12 planned supply missions to the ISS carried out as part of a US$1.6 billion (S$2.1 billion) contract with Nasa. The Falcon rocket and a satellite were destroyed, and the pad was damaged. SpaceX, which was founded in 2002, said it began searching for the root cause of the accident immediately after the loss, reviewing about 3,000 channels of telemetry and video data covering 35 to 55 milliseconds. "We are confident the two launch pads can support our return to flight and fulfill our upcoming manifest needs".
Elon Musk, the chairman of SolarCity (SCTY) and CEO of Tesla Motors (TSLA), has another company to take up his time: SpaceX. "Turning out to be the most hard and complex failure we have ever had in 14 years", Musk wrote. The issue was said to have been fixed. So when the fireball erupted, the blaze destroyed the satellite as well as the rocket. SpaceX wants now to look any footage that shows the explosion.
Investigators have not yet identified the source of the explosion, which cost SpaceX a $60 million rocket, and Mark Zuckerberg a $200 million satellite that was meant to deliver Internet to underserved regions in sub-Saharan Africa.
And he also said that he could not rule out that the rocket ignited after something hit it.
"C$3 ompany-led investigations are standard operating procedure when it comes to launch "mishaps, ' which are legally distinct from launch 'accidents" under USA federal law".
