US Presidential nominees Donald Trump and Hillary Clintonaddressed topics ranging from national security to veteran affairs in their first television forum here. "And Matt Lauer didn't have a followup planned?"
APPHOTO NYAH201: Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton speaks during a "commander in chief forum" hosted by NBC in NY on Wednesday, Sept. 7, 2016.
Both candidates were asked at the outset of their turn on stage-Clinton appeared first for 30 minutes, followed by Trump for 30 minutes-to refrain from attacking each other during their turn, a directive neither candidate fully followed. Since he wasn't talking, it's impossible to know whether Lauer had considered whether it would have been repetitive given that earlier in the hour, Clinton had specifically pointed out that Trump had been fudging the record on Iraq.
The New York businessman, who has struggled at times to demonstrate a command of foreign policy, also seemed to acknowledge he does not now have a plan to address cyber security or the Islamic State group. "It shouldn't be outside of the military", Trump said to the father.
When asked by Lauer if that meant the "only fix is to take women out of the military", Trump said: "No, not to kick them out". "I am asking to be judged on the totality of my record". Vox reporter Matthew Yglesias wrote, referring to Trump's assertions Wednesday - and on multiple occasions during his campaign - that he opposed the United States invading Iraq in March 2003. "He told Howard Stern he supported it".
Kristen explained that Trump "was not referencing any policy that I have heard", and mentioned the Military Justice Improvement Act, which was introduced by Sen.
Election training groups say officials should educate people about the process to calm concerns. Lauer lets it go.
CNBC panelist Becky Quick learned the pitfalls in a GOP forum last fall when Trump pushed back against her question about something the candidate had said previously.

The only taste of what a Trump foreign policy might look like came during his remarks about U.S. -Russia relations, when he reiterated his admiration for President Vladimir Putin and predicted "a very, very good relationship" with Moscow.
And if you think only the Clinton camp was angry, think again.
"The word judgment has been used a lot around you, Secretary Clinton, over the past year and a half", Lauer said, "and in particular concerning your use of your personal email and server to communicate while you were secretary of state". NBC's Matt Lauer sought clarification on whether the question was about those who have served or want to serve.
Breitbart executive Steve Bannon is now Mr Trump's campaign chief.
The response illustrated the pressure moderators will face during the three upcoming presidential debates, starting with Lauer's NBC colleague Lester Holt on September 26.
Trump's rival, Democrat Hillary Clinton, has tried to paint the billionaire businessman as erratic, making the case that his disposition would be a major liability on the world stage.
But he boxed himself into a corner, on several occasions having to remind her of the time, prompting some accusations of sexism.
