The new Miss America will be crowned on Sunday.

The final night of the Miss America preliminaries will be held Thursday, Sept. 8 at Atlantic City's Boardwalk Hall.

"LGBT youth are actually up to eight times as likely to commit suicide as compared to their straight peers if they come from an unaccepting environment", she said in an interview with Good Morning America.

The finals of the Miss America pageant are Sunday night.

The competition at Boardwalk Hall includes contestants from all 50 states, the District of Columbia and Puerto Rico.

"I am so excited, I am so grateful, I am so humble and just in shock", she said.
