Yankees Shuffle Roster Before Tampa Bay Game Thursday

The New York Yankees made several changes to their roster lineup tonight before the game against Tampa Bay. They have injuries occurring right and left.

The Yankees have promoted Chad Moeller, a veteran catcher, from AAA Scranton Wilkes Barre and placed Jorge Posada, catcher, to the 15-day disabled list. Posada was placed on the DL due to breaking a bone within his right foot. He has X-Rays done that didn’t show any damage, but when he underwent the scheduled MRI on Wednesday, the damage was there. The All-Star catcher is expected to miss about three to four weeks. Continue Reading…

Ramirez Scratched from Lineup for Dodgers vs. Padres Tonight; Dodgers Try for 10th Consecutive Win

The Los Angeles Dodgers may be playing the San Diego Padres tonight to attempt to win their 10th consecutive game, but Manny Ramirez won’t find his name on the lineup for the game after an injury to his left foot during warm-up practices prior to the game.

Ramirez just came off the disabled list earlier this month, May 8, after being on it from April 23. He was placed on the disabled list last month due to a strained calf muscle. This injury that left fielder Ramirez has suffered tonight appears to not be related to the strained calf muscle from last month. Continue Reading…

Johnson Out A Minimum Four Weeks for Wrist Surgery

It has been confirmed by the New York Yankees that Nick Johnson will probably undergo wrist surgery on Tuesday. It is official that he will have the surgery performed, but there has been no real official statement as to the exact date, but it is likely schedule to happen Tuesday.

Johnson was first put on the disabled list on May 8, almost 10 days ago, because of inflammation in a tendon. The Yankees initially tried to treat this inflammation with a shot of cortisone; however, it didn’t work effectively. He was also doing a series of treatments and exercises with the team’s training personnel; however, he saw no improvement. Continue Reading…

After missing a total of 29 games due to a leg injury, All-Star three-time shortstop Jimmy Rollins is now back in the starting lineup for the Philadelphia Phillies. The Phillies will be playing against the Pittsburgh Pirates tonight at Citizens Bank Park.

MRI Shows No Structural Damage to Lidge’s Elbow

Brad Lidge was just announced as the replacement for Ryan Madson earlier this month; however, after taking over, he has suffered an injury of his own it appears. Monday, he complained of stiffness in his right elbow at which time he was scheduled to be sent back to Philadelphia so that a doctor could do a thorough examination of his right elbow.

33-year-old Lidge went to the Thomas Jefferson University Hospital this morning to undergo a MRI. The MRI results show that there has been no structural damage to Lidge’s right elbow. Continue Reading…

First Victory for Dodger’s John Ely

Well, in the game against the Arizona Diamondbacks Tuesday, he definitely showed coaches and fans exactly where he belongs – on the mound out on the field. Within six innings, Ely was able to only pitch two runs to the Diamondbacks, resulting in his very first victory in the major leagues of 13-3.

Ely was first taken off the roster after last week’s start until Charlie Haegar incurred an injury that put him on the disabled list and opened up a spot for Ely. Luckily, for Ely, he isn’t going to be demoted again after this victory.

Rather than being demoted, Ely has actually earned a roster spot for starting rotation. He was able to strike out six players and give no walks. He left after the seventh inning after only allowing two runs for the other team. Continue Reading…

Reds’ Chris Dickerson Had Hand and Wrist Surgery Monday; Chris Heisley Makes MLB Debut

Chris Dickerson, outfielder for the Cincinnati Reds, will be off the field for at least four to six weeks after having multiple surgeries Monday on his hand and wrist. According to various media reports, Dickerson had the hamate bone within his hand removed during surgery yesterday. His wrist, since it had been bothering him for quite some time now, was also thoroughly cleaned out, also known as an arthroscopic procedure.

28-year-old Dickerson received his injury last Thursday during the game against Houston where he had caused aggravation to his wrist during a swing. He was then put on the 15-day disabled list the following day, Friday. So far during the nine games of this season, Dickerson has batted a .227 and has no RBI’s or homeruns. Continue Reading…

Phillies’ Ryan Madson Scheduled for Tuesday Toe Surgery

Last week, we reported that Ryan Madson, reliever for the Philadelphia Phillies, was put on the 15-day disabled list Friday because of a broken big toe. This time on the DL would allow him time for a full recovery from the toe injury. He gained the injury by kicking a chair last week after being disgusted with himself for blowing a save in the game against San Francisco. This was his second blown save of the season so he was unhappy with himself.

A CT scan revealed earlier today that Madson’s broken toe was bad enough that he will need to undergo surgery due to further damage to the injury over the course of the weekend (multiple breaks). After the CT scan, Madson met with a foot specialist, Mr. Raikin, confirmed that the surgery was needed and will be performing the surgery. His big toe on his right foot will receive surgery on Tuesday at Rothman Institute. Continue Reading…

Broken Toe Causes Madson to Be Put on DL

Ryan Madson, closer and relief pitcher for the Philadelphia Phillies, was placed on the DL for 15 days due to a broken right big toe. The placement on the DL will allow for Madson to fully recover from the injury. He was placed on the list immediately Thursday after dealing with the broken toe injury Wednesday after the game against the Giants in which the Phillies won.

Madson has been closing for the Phillies for the past month, the entire first month of the MLB season of 2010. Brad Lidge had been on the disabled list since the start of the season for a recovery from surgery on his right elbow as well as knee surgery. While Lidge was recovering, Madson took over the role of the closer for the Philadelphia Phillies. Continue Reading…
