NBA Power Rankings: Spurs crack Top 5

#1 Miami Heat (18-6)

For the second week in a row the Miami Heat have been dubbed the best team in the NBA in the power rankings and that could be the way it stays throughout the entire season if LeBron James continues to play at an MVP level.

#2 Chicago Bulls (21-6)

The Chicago Bulls have consistently been one of the best teams in this league once again this season and could be even better with the acquisition of Dwight Howard and or J.R. Smith. There is no telling how serious the Bulls might be about making a move, but a move might be just what is needed to make this team in the Windy City near unstoppable.

#3 Indiana Pacers (16-7)

With impressive wins over the Lakers, Bulls, Celtics, Magic and the defending NBA champion Dallas Mavericks, the Indiana Pacers have proven themselves to be the real deal this year and ready to compete with the best of the best in the Eastern Conference.

Whether or not Danny Granger and company can continue to play at a high level remains to be seen, but this team could be force to be reckoned with come playoff time.

#4 Philadelphia 76ers (18-7)

Much like the Indiana Pacers, the young and up-and-coming Philadelphia 76ers are a team quickly on the rise in the Eastern Conference and showed just how resilient they are with a big win over the Los Angeles Lakers recently in front of their fans in Philly. Doug Collins could be the early favorite for NBA Coach of the Year.

#5 San Antonio Spurs (17-9)

The one team in the NBA that has been able to fly under the radar so far this season is the veteran San Antonio Spurs. This team may not be the team it once was, but Tony Parker and company are still getting the job done with just nine losses thus far and being successful without Manu Ginobili.
