What teams have the best chance of being upset in the Eastern Conference Playoffs?

Chicago Bulls (1) vs. Indiana Pacers (8)

The Chicago Bulls were able to fly relatively under the radar during the NBA regular season this year by taking advantage of the fact that the New York Knicks, Miami Heat and the Boston Celtics were grabbing all the headlines. So after the most successful season since the Michael Jordan era in the Windy City, NBA MVP front runner Derrick Rose and company will do everything within their power to reach the NBA Finals.

In the first round of the playoffs, the Chicago Bulls will face off against the Indiana Pacers in what will almost certainly be a sweep or a series that ends in five games with the Bulls advancing.

Chance of Upset: 10%

Miami Heat (2) vs. Philadelphia 76ers (7)

The Miami Heat have been criticized more than any team in the NBA this season as they were put under a microscope immediately after signing LeBron James last summer. Even though many people believed they would be the best team in the league and might win 70+ games this season, the Heat had to settle for the second seed.

LeBron James and company will face the Philadelphia 76ers in the first round, but they might be in for a hard fought battle as Philly will not go down without a fight.

Chance of Upset: 20%

Boston Celtics (3) vs. New York Knicks (6)

As arguably the one series that has the biggest chance for an upset in the NBA playoffs, the defending Eastern Conference champion Boston Celtics will be looking to stay alive against a New York Knicks that has really come into their own in the last couple weeks of the season.

Unless the Celtics get back to championship form and do it fast, the Knicks will almost certainly advance to the second round.

Chance of Upset: 60%

Orlando Magic (4) vs. Atlanta Hawks (5)

The Orlando Magic have been one of the better teams in the Eastern Conference this season and will look to continue to play well in the playoffs, but they will have to contend with the Southeast division rival Atlanta Hawks in order to advance to the second round.

Chance of Upset: 40%
