Even though the current NBA season isn’t officially over just yet as the Dallas Mavericks and the Miami Heat are still battling it out in the NBA Finals for a chance at an NBA title, a lot of teams around the league have started to make moves in order to improve their franchises for next season and the foreseeable future.
The one team that made more headlines than any so far has been without a doubt the Los Angeles Lakers. With arguably the greatest NBA head coach of all-time in Phil Jackson calling it quits in Los Angeles, the Lakers had to find a replacement and surprisingly enough it didn’t take them that long to do that as they hired Mike Brown to take over for the Zen Master just weeks after being knocked out of the playoffs by the Dallas Mavericks.
The next new head coach to get announced was former Boston Celtics great Kevin McHale taking over for Rick Adelman with the Houston Rockets. This didn’t really surprise many people, but it showed that teams around the league are not wasting any time.
Most recently, the newest head coach to be named was former player and current commentator Mark Jackson. The Golden State Warriors were eyeing Mike Brown and possibly Brian Shaw for the job, but once the Los Angeles Lakers hired Brown the Golden State Warriors decided to go with Mark Jackson as their leader on the sidelines.
This will be the first time that Jackson will be coaching a team in the NBA. Even though this will be his first stint with an NBA team as a head coach, the Warriors feel confident that they have the right guy calling the shots. This deal has the Warriors paying Jackson $6 million dollars over the next three years.
