It was recently announced in the Bay Area that former player and commentator Mark Jackson has been named the new head coach of the Golden State Warriors. Despite the fact that the former point guard doesn’t have any head coaching experience in the league, the Warriors feel he could be just what this team needs to turn things around.
Hiring Mark Jackson is not the only thing the Golden State Warriors have done recently to get their struggling franchise heading in the right direction as the team also brought in NBA legend Jerry West in an advisory position and are currently working on a blockbuster trade that would send guard Monte Ellis to the Philadelphia 76ers for forward Andre Igoudala.
This deal has been in the works for quite some time as the Golden State Warriors have been looking to ship Monte Ellis ship in exchange for a forward that could play alongside Stephen Curry. The two dynamic guards do play well together in the Bay Area, but the Warriors believe a player like Andre Igoudala would be just what this team needs to get back into playoff contention in the Western Conference.
It is no easy task to play in the same division (Pacific) as the Los Angeles Lakers, but if they can make some upgrades here and there with former Laker great Jerry West helping them out, they could be playoff bound in the near future.
As for the Philadelphia 76ers, they would be getting a dominant scorer in Monte Ellis and an open spot in the starting lineup for up-and-comer Evan Turner to slip into. This deal seems to be one of those few deals made in the NBA that works out for both teams involved.
