Last season the Cincinnati Bengals had some pretty talented players on offense that could have turned this squad into one of the best offenses in the NFL, but for some reason the Bengals fell short and only managed to win four games all year long. With one-time Pro Bowl quarterback Carson Palmer and perennial Pro Bowl wide receivers Chad Ochocinco and Terrell Owens, the sky should have been the limit for the Bengals, but instead the team fell apart and all three players are no longer in Cincinnati.
Ironically enough, the most lethal combination in Cincinnati last year was Carson Palmer and Terrell Owens. The consensus was that the Owens would be the second best wideout in Cincinnati and might not have numbers that would turn any heads, but that wasn’t the case as T.O. seemed to turn back the clock with 983 yards and nine touchdowns.
With Terrell Owens being Carson Palmer’s favorite target in Cincinnati last season, the rumors have started circulating that T.O. might get some interest from the Oakland Raiders who acquired the veteran quarterback last week after starting quarterback Jason Campbell went down with a broken collarbone. This move wouldn’t be a bad one by the Raiders as they have been looking for a go-to receiver ever since Tim Brown retired, but apparently Palmer doesn’t want to lose any of his new receivers in favor of a 37-year-old.
At this point in time, Terrell Owens hasn’t gotten any interest from any of the 32 NFL teams in the league, but I believe that will change in the coming weeks as injuries might become overwhelming for playoff contenders like the Oakland Raiders. Whether or not Carson Palmer changes his stance on Terrell Owens coming to Oakland remains to be seen, but having a familiar face by his side after an awful debut with the Raiders might be a good idea.
