Last season the Cincinnati Bengals had arguably the most talented receiving corps in the NFL with perennial Pro Bowl wide receivers Chad Ochocinco and Terrell Owens playing across from each other. Even though the Bengals seemed to have an offense that could quickly turn into one of the league’s best, Cincinnati failed to live up to expectations and ended up only winning four games all year long.
Fortunately for T.O., the reason for the team’s unsuccessful season was by no means attributed to his play on the gridiron as he had an impressive season and quickly became quarterback Carson Palmer’s favorite target in the offense. With 55 catches, 829 yards and six touchdowns, Terrell Owens was one of the best wide receivers in the league statistically, but then he tore his ACL in the offseason and scared off a lot of teams that didn’t want to sign a 37-year-old veteran wideout coming off a serious injury.
It would be hard to argue that Terrell Owens has nothing left in the tank as he is an amazing physical specimen that keeps his body in incredible shape, but he is 37-years-old and isn’t getting any younger. Recently, T.O. released a video that had him doing workouts to prove that his knee is back to form and he is more than ready to sign with a new team, but no team in the league seems to be interested enough to bring in the veteran wide receiver. This video was what led T.O. to say that his knee rehab is “way ahead of schedule.”
Even though Terrell Owens has yet to sign with a new team, I can’t see him not getting picked up somewhere before next season. There is no question that he is no longer the number one option in his career from here on out, but he can definitely help a Super Bowl title contender reach the next level as the second or third option in the passing game.
