New Orleans Saints @ Cincinnati Bengals Sun. Dec. 5th 2010 1pm EST
The defending Super Bowl champion New Orleans Saints have struggled to get back to form at times during this NFL regular season, but after four straight wins heading into Week 13, I believe Drew Brees and company are back on track and ready to repeat as Super Bowl champs.
Even though the New Orleans Saints can’t wait to get another shot at the division leading Atlanta Falcons in Week 16, they will have to keep winning football games in order to keep up with their division rivals starting with a game against the lowly Cincinnati Bengals.
Coming into this NFL regular season the Cincinnati Bengals were hoping to contend for a Super Bowl title as they had made considerable upgrade to their offense with the addition of perennial Pro Bowl wide receiver Terrell Owens. Unfortunately, that hasn’t been the case as Carson Palmer and company have failed to live up to expectations this season and will miss the playoffs after winning the AFC North division just a year ago.
Heading into week 13, the Bengals will look to get the best of the defending champs in what would almost certainly be the highlight of their season, but with the Saints playing the way they are on both sides of the football right now, I believe there is no way that Cincinnati will be able to contend with New Orleans.
As of right now, the New Orleans Saints are favored to come out on top in this matchup with a -6.5 point spread. Despite the Cincinnati Bengals being capable of putting a lot of points on the scoreboard, I believe the defending champs should cover the spread and get their fifth straight win this weekend.
