NFL Trade: New Orleans Saints trade Reggie Bush to the Miami Dolphins

Ever since the disappointing end of last season for the defending Super Bowl champion New Orleans Saints in which they were knocked out of the playoffs by the lowly Seattle Seahawks, the Big Easy has been buzzing about the future of star running back Reggie Bush. Even though Bush hasn’t really lived up to the hype he was given coming out of USC, the veteran running back has been a valuable asset for the Saints and more of a pass catching running back rather than the number option out of the backfield.

With Reggie Bush being enormously overpaid for what he does for New Orleans, the Saints had to make a decision in the 2011 NFL draft about the future of the running back position in the Big Easy. In a smart move, the Saints picked up Heisman trophy winner Mark Ingram out of Alabama and basically sealed the fate of Reggie Bush.

Now that Mark Ingram will eventually become the number one running back for the New Orleans Saints with a completely different game in comparison to Reggie Bush, the former USC star knew his days were numbered as it was just a matter of time before the Saints released or traded him.

Fortunately, the New Orleans Saints may have done Reggie Bush a favor by trading him to the Miami Dolphins. With the Dolphins moving in another direction at the running back position by letting Ronnie Brown and possibly Ricky Williams go, Reggie Bush might have an opportunity to become the starting running back in Miami.

There is no telling at this point whether or not Reggie Bush can finally live up to the hype with a new team, but a fresh start with a rebuilding squad might be a blessing in disguise.
