Miami Dolphins at Atlanta Falcons Fri. Aug. 12, 2011 7:30 p.m. EST
On the second day of NFL preseason games, the Atlanta Falcons will get their year started on the field by hosting the Miami Dolphins. After the success of last season, the Falcons expectations for the upcoming regular season are through the roof as some people believe that they are a legitimate Super Bowl title contender in the NFC Conference.
As if the offense of the Atlanta Falcons wasn’t dynamic enough last season with one of the best young quarterbacks in the game in Matt Ryan, three-time Pro Bowl wideout Roddy White, two-time Pro Bowl running back Michael Turner and arguably the best tight end of all-time in Tony Gonzalez, the defending NFC South champions struck gold in the 2011 NFL draft with rookie wide receiver Julio Jones.
The prospect of Julio Jones playing across from Roddy White has up-and-coming quarterback Matt Ryan drooling. These two wide receivers could quickly turn into the league’s dynamic duo at the position and the Falcons offense could become the most potent offense in the NFL both on the ground and especially through the air.
On Friday night, the Atlanta Falcons will host the Miami Dolphins and will showcase this new-look offense to the rest of the NFL. The Dolphins also have a new face on their offense with versatile running back and former Heisman trophy winner Reggie Bush.
With the New Orleans Saints needing to get rid of Reggie Bush because of his lucrative contract, the Miami Dolphins agreed to a trade that would bring the former USC star to Florida. Bush isn’t the answer for the Dolphins in terms of turning around the struggling franchise, but he will definitely help the offense turn the corner.
It will be interesting to see how Reggie Bush and Julio Jones impact the Dolphins and the Falcons in their first preseason game.
