As arguably the most controversial and potentially the most-hated team in the NFL coming into next season, the New Orleans Saints could be in for a rough year without head coach Sean Payton on the sidelines and an unhappy superstar quarterback in Drew Brees. With all the fines and penalties that the Saints have endured in the past few weeks, it is hard to concentrate on the upcoming season, but Payton is trying to by looking for his replacement.
Reportedly, Sean Payton might have found just the right man to take over for him while he serves his one-year ban by the NFL. There has been talk of the offensive or defensive coordinator taking over for Payton, but the one-time Super Bowl champ seems to be leaning in a different direction by bringing in a new head coach altogether in NFL legend Bill Parcells.
After a short stint with the Dallas Cowboys some years ago, the consensus was that Bill Parcells would most likely never return to coaching in the NFL ever again. Like most retired or unemployed NFL head coaches, Parcells might be getting the itch and a nudge from someone he mentored after talking with Sean Payton.
There still remains a chance that Payton’s one-year ban might get appealed or reduced before it officially goes into effect on April 1 all the way up to the Super Bowl, but chances are he will not be on the sidelines in the 2012 NFL.
With that being said, Bill Parcells might very well be the option for the New Orleans Saints moving forward. There is nothing set in stone at this time and Parcells might not even be as interested as reported, but it is intriguing to say the least that the former head coach will get back on the sidelines next season.
