The Minnesota Vikings have been constantly surrounded with media attention this NFL offseason as Brett Favre has been contemplating retirement once again and the speculation was at fever pitch recently when the sports media followed Favre’s plane from Mississippi to Minnesota this past Wednesday.
Fortunately, the three-time NFL MVP only had good news for the Minnesota Vikings as he announced his intentions to play just one more season under center after having three of his teammates fly down to his house in Mississippi to convince him to play one more season or tell the team he wants to retire. This could really be a good season of NFL football betting for you Vikings fans.
Ultimately, the presence of Ryan Longwell (kicker), Steve Hutchinson (guard) and Jared Allen (defensive end) was enough to convince the 11-time Pro Bowler to return for one more season and another shot at a Super Bowl before he decides to call it quits and hang up the cleats.
With Brett Favre under center, the Minnesota Vikings were instantly considered Super Bowl title contenders once again, but they might be a bit rusty as their quarterback has a bum wheel and two of their best wide receivers are nowhere near 100% right now.
This week Percy Harvin was finally able to return to practice after his Grandmother’s death and suffering from migraines once again, but shortly after returning to practice Thursday, Harvin collapsed and left in an ambulance.
Sidney Rice on the other hand has been battling a hip injury ever since the end of last season and is still questionable for the season opener against the New Orleans Saints.
So without their two best wide receivers and a rusty Brett Favre, I am betting it will be a long day on Sunday in San Francisco as the Vikings take on the 49ers in their second preseason game.
