NFL Reports say that Vikings QB Brett Favre will retire

There are very few Hall of Fame caliber quarterbacks that have been able to stand the test of time and the brutal beatings sustained throughout a long NFL season year after year, but despite fighting through an unprecedented 19 years in the league, Brett Favre has been able to stay relatively healthy and amongst the best at his position.

Last season the Silver Fox decided to give it one more shot behind center for the Minnesota Vikings. The consensus was that with Favre as their quarterback, the Vikings would instantly become a Super Bowl title contender instead of team that struggles to make the playoffs in the NFC Conference. Online sportsbooks loved the action with Minnesota last year.

Fortunately, that is exactly what has happen as Brett Favre turned out to be the missing piece of the puzzle for the Minnesota Vikings. Not only was the offense firing on all cylinders with Favre behind center, Adrian Peterson coming out of the backfield and wide receivers Percy Harvin and Sidney Rice making a name for themselves, but the Minnesota defense was just as good as led by one of the best defensive players in this league in Jared Allen.

Even though the Minnesota Vikings ultimately lost to the eventual Super Bowl champion New Orleans Saints in the NFC championship game, the season was thought of as a success and next season could be even better if Favre decided to play out the second and last year of his contract with the Vikings.

Despite offseason rankings having the Minnesota Vikings as arguably the best team in the NFC Conference ahead of the Dallas Cowboys and the defending Super Bowl champion New Orleans Saints, the 11-time Pro Bowler has reportedly decided to finally call it a career and retire for the game he loves for the third time.

As of right now, the reports of Brett Favre retirement are just rumors as the future Hall of Famer has yet to officially announce his intentions to retire, but most people believe that his body isn’t healing the way he anticipated and that was the deciding factor in his decision to call it a career. It still remains to be seen whether or not Brett Favre has really made up his mind, as he has been infamously indecisive over the years, but I wouldn’t be surprised to hear that he will come back for one more shot at a Super Bowl title with the Minnesota Vikings. At present, the sports betting odds on the Vikings are changing as experts wait to see what happens with Favre.
