The Chicago Bulls have gone all season long without superstar point guard Derrick Rose. The one-time NBA MVP has been recovering from a torn ACL injury suffered in last year’s playoffs. Although there were rumors floating around of Rose potentially getting back on the floor at different times this season, but despite being medically cleared to return, the superstar has been reluctant to comeback with a fear of rushing to back too early.
Even without Rose leading the way for the Bulls, Chicago has played better than expected this season. The Bulls have already clinched a playoff spot with the season coming to a close and appear to be headed toward locking up the fifth seed in the Eastern Conference if able to hold the Atlanta Hawks at bay.
With the playoffs around the corner, the Bulls have been surrounded by speculation about Rose’s potential return in the postseason. Although Rose has remained reluctant about finally getting back on the floor for Chicago, the rising star has left the door open for his return in the playoffs.
On Thursday night, the Bulls will face off against the New York Knicks at the United Center. With the Knicks currently riding a 13-game winning streak, New York has been at the center of attention along with Carmelo Anthony.
Anthony talked about Rose’s potential return and believes the Bulls and the fans shouldn’t be trying to push him back before he’s “110 percent” according to the superstar.
Although Anthony has never suffered a major injury in comparison to Rose’s torn ACL, the league’s leading scorer is no stranger to dealing with pressure to return to the floor before being ready to do so. Rose’s long-term health could be in jeopardy is he takes the risk in the playoffs rather than shutting it down and Anthony believes it’s no a smart gamble.
