The Denver Broncos made a bold move during the offseason by selecting arguably one of the best college football players of all-time in quarterback Tim Tebow in the 2010 NFL Draft (25th overall pick). Even though he was able to lead the Florida Gators to two BCS championships during his time in college, Tebow has been considered a player that wouldn’t be able to transcend his game on the NFL level as he wasn’t more of a threat with his feet rather than his arm.
Despite all the doubters saying the Tim Tebow wasn’t going to play much on the Denver Broncos with Kyle Orton and Brady Quinn ahead of him on the depth chart, after his first game in a Broncos uniform against the Cincinnati Bengals, the former Heisman trophy winner impressed people with his performance and started a buzz in Denver that he was capable of becoming the number two QB.
There is no doubt the Kyle Orton will be the starting quarterback for the Denver Broncos at the beginning of the NFL regular season, but the battle for his backup rages on as Tim Tebow could end up being number two.
Even though the consensus right now is that Tim Tebow is the better option at number two, the rookie quarterback has had a bit of a set back as he suffered some bruised ribs on his first NFL rushing touchdown against the Cincinnati Bengals.
With Tim Tebow’s bruised ribs he has sat out his second practice Thursday and could miss the team’s next preseason game. Brady Quinn will see more time behind center this Saturday in the Denver Broncos second preseason game against the Detroit Lions. This should have no affect at the NFL sports betting sites as it is still pre-season and Tebow always comes back strong.
This is great news for Brady Quinn as it will give him a second chance to prove that he is worthy of the backup role, but with Tebow’s never say die attitude and approach to the game, I won’t be surprised to see him suit up Saturday and play at least a couple series in the second half.
