The Arizona Cardinals are the verge of a new era as they will no longer have future Hall of Fame quarterback Kurt Warner under center after he announced his retirement during the NFL offseason.
As usual, the transition from one dominant quarterback to his backup can be rough to say the least as Matt Leinart in this case will have some pretty big shoes to fill in order for the team to become successful once again.
Over the last two seasons, the Arizona Cardinals have won the NFC West division and made a Super Bowl appearance back in 2008 against the eventual Super Bowl champion Pittsburgh Steelers. Even though Kurt Warner and company gave the Steelers are run for their money in the Super Bowl, they weren’t able to hold off Big Ben Roethlisberger from throwing the game winning touchdown to Super Bowl MVP wide receiver Santonio Holmes. Some of the best NFL football betting has happened with the Steelers.
Needless to say, having Warner under center is the best thing that has ever happen the struggling NFL franchise and now they basically have to start all over with Matt Leinart as their starter and free agent acquisition Derek Anderson right behind him keeping the pressure on his job security. The Bears are favored by 3.5 by the best USA online sportsbooks.
A few years ago, Anderson had a breakout season with the Cleveland Browns and made a name for himself as he looked like one of the more promising quarterbacks in the league, but shortly after his breakout season he started to head into a downward spiral and has struggled ever since.
Fortunately, the veteran quarterback has been given another and an opportunity to become the starter in Arizona as it appears that the Cardinals aren’t confident enough in Matt Leinart.
As a result of Leinart’s constant struggles as the starter, the Cardinals have elected to give the start to Derek Anderson this Saturday against the Chicago Bears.
