Sony's brings first Xperia X series flagships to IFA Berlin

However if you don't believe in owning a phone with a display that's bigger than 5-inches, you're in luck because Sony might have a phone for you that fits that description in the form of the Sony Xperia X Compact. But it's fantastic for consumers, because Sony is the rare top tier phone maker that releases high powered phones for tiny hands. Xperia XZ is driven by its Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor with X12 LTE, andit's water resistant.

Each phone boasts a 23MP camera sensor - the same we've seen in the Xperia Z5 series and Xperia X - but only the XZ features 4K video recording.

On the XZ, that drive to push tech forward is best exemplified by the XZ's 5-axis image stabilization feature. The X Compact also has a 5MP front-facing camera, which is less than the 13MP front shooter on the XZ.

Both the Xperia XZ and Xperia X Compact are also the first Sony phones to embrace USB-C technology.

The new flagship Xperia XZ has got an ALKALEIDO metal back to round off its "loop surface", and it will be perhaps less worrying to drop than recent Xperia flagship devices. Moreover the XZ had more of a matte finish at the back whereas the X Compact has a glossy back. In addition to the Predictive Hybrid Autofocus introduced in the first Xperia X models, Sony has added a Laser AF for more accurate distance sensing and an RGB infrared sensor for filtering colors. "They learn your charging patterns and adapt to them, resulting in up to twice the battery lifespan", claims the company. The Sony Xperia X Compact launches 25th September. The front sensor is a 5-megapixel wide-angle camera.

While Xperia XZ is only 8.1mm thick, the X Compact is 9.5mm in thickness but at 135g, won't be a burden on your palm even if you're in for a long haul.

The next 100 years
Park employees celebrated with a birthday cake at the Golden Gate Bridge and hope you will decide to celebrate this weekend, too. In celebration of the 100-year-anniversary of the National Park Service, CBS 5 reports that all entry fees have been waived.

The other new handset in the Xperia family is the Xperia X Compact, but you could be mistaken for finding it rather familiar.

The Xperia XZ will be available in black, the dark blue from above, and this "Platinum". The new Xperia XZ will ship with the USB Type-C and will support Quick charge.

Unlike the XZ, the X Compact is not IP68 waterproof.

Commenting on the launch, Hideyuki Furumi, Executive Vice President, Global Sales and Marketing, Sony Mobile Communications said, "With Xperia we want to assist you when and where it matters most, making your everyday lives more convenient, more effortless, more spontaneous".

We'll update this story with the latest on the price and release date for both phones once we know it.
