Is Chris Paul on the trading block?

This past NBA regular season, the New Orleans Hornets had arguably their worst season in recent memory as they just couldn’t get anything going with any consistently and saw head coach Byron Scott get the boot and superstar point guard Chris Paul battle injuries all season long.

Not only were the New Orleans Hornets ravaged with injuries and going through a head coaching change this past season, but they also missed the playoffs and seemed to have little hope for the future moving forward. Continue Reading…

Doc Rivers is leaning one way about his future in Boston

The Boston Celtics may have lost to the Los Angeles Lakers in the NBA Finals recently, but it would be hard to argue that they didn’t have one of the most successful seasons in recent memory. Even though the franchise seems to be headed back in the right direction once again, the Celtics have a lot of unanswered questions moving forward.

Not only are three of the Boston Celtics most important players in Rasheed Wallace, Ray Allen and Paul Pierce possibly on their way out via free agency or retirement, but head coach Doc Rivers is also still uncertain about his future with the team. Continue Reading…

Lakers head coach Phil Jackson to decide on future before June 27th

The Los Angeles Lakers have won their second straight NBA title with a thrilling game seven victory over their bitter rivals in the Boston Celtics. Even though the Lakers dominated throughout the majority of the playoffs, they were seriously tested by the Celtics in the NBA Finals and won arguably their toughest NBA title in recent memory. This was a great series.

This second consecutive NBA title for the Los Angeles Lakers was the fifth for Kobe Bryant and the 11th for head coach Phil Jackson (six with the Chicago Bulls, five with the Los Angeles Lakers). Last season the Zen Master broke the record for most NBA title won by a head coach with 10 beating out the Boston Celtics Red Auerbach and now Jackson has distanced himself even more from Red with another NBA title. Lakers beat Celtics in game seven to win second straight NBA title

These NBA playoffs have been entertaining to say the least with a lot of surprises and underdogs going much further than anticipated. Even though many people were expecting to see a Los Angeles Lakers and Cleveland Cavaliers NBA Finals matchup with Kobe Bryant and LeBron James battling it out for an NBA title, the Boston Celtics were able to do the seemingly impossible and beat the two best teams in the Eastern Conference to get back to the NBA Finals for the second time in three years. Tom Izzo will stay with Michigan State

No other franchise in the NBA has been surrounded by more speculation during these NBA playoffs than the Cleveland Cavaliers. As if it wasn’t bad enough that the Cavs were knocked out in convincing fashion by the Boston Celtics in the second round, Cleveland has really started to clean house moving forward starting with the firing of five-year head coach Mike Brown.

Even though many people believed that someone had to take the blame for another earlier exit in the playoffs by the Cleveland Cavaliers, the firing of Mike Brown was a bit surprising to some. Continue Reading…

Cleveland Cavs reach out to Michigan State Spartans head coach Tom Izzo

The Cleveland Cavaliers are an absolute mess right now. They just fired their head coach Mike Brown after two of the most successful NBA regular seasons in franchise history and their GM Danny Ferry has just resigned only weeks before the team will be trying to convince two-time NBA MVP LeBron James to stay in Cleveland.

No matter how you shake it, the Cavs are in trouble and are scrambling to make something happen before the roof caves in and LeBron heads to New York or Chicago. Continue Reading…

Cleveland Cavaliers GM Danny Ferry resigns

Throughout the past two years in the NBA, there has been a lot of speculation surrounding the upcoming 2010 NBA free agent market as none of the big-name players like LeBron James, Dwyane Wade, Amare Stoudemire, Joe Johnson or Chris Bosh were willing to sign a contract extension with their current teams.

With all these big-name free agents officially becoming available come July 1st, the NBA has been buzzing with rumors about where some of these players might be landing when teams around the league can start making offers this summer. Continue Reading…

Is Ron Artest already getting to Paul Pierce?

Heading into game one of the NBA Finals this past Thursday night, the one key matchup that everyone wanted to see was Los Angeles Lakers lockdown defender Ron Artest on the Boston Celtics leading scorer Paul Pierce.

Coming into this series, both these players were playing extremely well in the conference finals and looked ready to help their team win an NBA title.

Obviously, Pierce had already tasted what it was like to be a champion two years ago after beating the Los Angeles Lakers in the NBA Finals in convincing fashion, but Ron Artest still hasn’t been able to put a championship ring on his finger and that was his only goal coming into this season with the Lakers.

Despite Paul Pierce being one of the best scorers in this league with the ability to dominate great defenders around the league, Ron Artest got into Pierce’s head early as both players were charged with technicals just 27 seconds into game one after getting tangled up underneath the basket.

Immediately everyone thought this would be an extremely physical series and Ron Artest’s sole purpose in this series was to wear out Pierce with some tough physical approach.

Ultimately, the Lakers went onto victory in game one of the NBA Finals (102-89) with a dominating performance on both sides of the basketball floor and if the Boston Celtics want to compete with the defending NBA champion Los Angeles Lakers there going to have to figure out a way to get Paul Pierce going.

Even though Ron Artest’s defense limited Pierce’s production all night long at the Staples Center on Thursday night, The Truth, as he calls himself, still finished with 24 points and nine rebounds, but he got most his points at the free throw line going 12 of 13 from the charity stripe.

So far, the defending champs look to be by far the better team in this series, but it is way too early to tell how things will turn out. In my opinion though, the Lakers are on their way to winning their second straight NBA title and avenging their NBA Finals loss to the Celtics back in 2008.

Rondo and Wallace still battling injuries

The NBA Finals between the archrivals in the defending NBA champion Los Angeles Lakers and the Boston Celtics will begin this Thursday in Los Angeles at the Staples Center, but in the meantime the Celtics are licking their wounds as they have two key players trying to recover from injuries sustained in the Eastern Conference Finals against the Orlando Magic.

During these NBA playoffs, arguably the most important player for the Boston Celtics has been All-Star point guard Rajon Rondo. Even though he was considered one of the best point guards in the league coming into the postseason, he is taking it to another level throughout the playoffs as these just dominated on both sides of the basketball floor. Dwyane Wade, Joe Johnson and LeBron James to discuss free agency

The upcoming free agent class in the NBA is arguably the most talented and most impactful the league has ever seen as some very big names in the NBA could be heading elsewhere this summer.

Obviously, the biggest name available this summer is without a doubt LeBron James from the Cleveland Cavaliers, but there are plenty of other game changers that could very easily take a struggling NBA franchise from perennial loser to a possible playoff team or maybe even title contender.
