The Cleveland Cavaliers are an absolute mess right now. They just fired their head coach Mike Brown after two of the most successful NBA regular seasons in franchise history and their GM Danny Ferry has just resigned only weeks before the team will be trying to convince two-time NBA MVP LeBron James to stay in Cleveland.

No matter how you shake it, the Cavs are in trouble and are scrambling to make something happen before the roof caves in and LeBron heads to New York or Chicago.

The firing of Mike Brown wasn’t exactly a surprise to me as I figured Cavs owner Dan Gilbert would have to do something drastic in order to save some face and basically point the blame at someone else besides LeBron James. Danny Ferry resigning though, was a big surprise as this seemed like the most important time in his career as a GM.

Obviously, with Ferry resigning, the league took notice and figured he just couldn’t convince LeBron James to stay in his hometown Cleveland. Apparently, that is not the case as Cavs owner Dan Gilbert and Danny Ferry didn’t see eye to eye and had different opinions about almost everything, especially the future of the franchise.

Personally, that is total BS in my opinion as I believe Dan Gilbert is absolutely terrified of LeBron James leaving town and his franchise in complete disarray. With that being said, I bet he has been looking over Ferry’s shoulder from the word go and just didn’t like what he saw.

Now the Cavs have the sights set on a big fish in the college basketball coaching world by trying to sign Michigan State Spartans head coach Tom Izzo. Throughout the years Izzo has made it clear that he would like to win one more NCAA championship before considering moving up to the pros, but has also said, “Never say never.”
