The trade rumors in the NBA have begun to heat up once again with superstar center Dwight Howard potentially being dealt by the Orlando Magic to the Los Angeles Lakers. The rumors of the Lakers acquiring Howard have been floating around the league for quite some time with Los Angeles making a hard push to land the perennial All-Star.
The one part of this potential blockbuster trade that has held things up is the reluctance of Howard and Andrew Bynum to sign contract extension once traded. As of right now, it appears that Howard is still not sold on signing a long-term deal with the Lakers and Bynum has the same stance about the Magic.
Fortunately, there may be some light at the end of the tunnel for the Lakers with a third team potentially being involved. It is becoming more and more clear that the only way a deal can get done is including another team.
The other team in a potential three-team trade with the Lakers and Magic is looking like it will be the Cleveland Cavaliers. Apparently, the Cavs are willing to deal draft picks and Anderson Varejao to Orlando in exchange for Bynum. As a result, Howard will land in Los Angeles.
With Bynum willing to sign a long-term deal with the Cavs, Cleveland appears to be the best candidate to be the third team in the trade in order to make it work. Whether or not the Lakers and or Magic are willing to make this happen remains to be seen, but chances are a deal for the superstar center will be made with Cleveland in the mix.
If the deal does go through, all three teams will benefit greatly with Orlando getting draft picks to rebuild, Cleveland brings in another star to play alongside Kyrie Irving and Los Angeles landing another superstar.
