NBA lockout is officially underway in hopes of new Collective Bargaining Agreement

Just like the NFL did a little more than a 100 days ago, the NBA has now locked out the players and restricted any business being conducted between players and teams until a new Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) is agreed upon. This doesn’t really come as much of a surprise to teams and players around the league as this was predicted even before the start of last season, but with all the trouble the NFL has been going through as of late to get their new CBA in place the hope was that the NBA would wise up and not follow in those footsteps.

Now the grueling process of countless negotiations and a relentless battling back and forth will begin. The one side that really stands to be affected by this NBA lockout is the fans. With no NFL football on the horizon in terms of a solid start date and now the NBA locking their players out, the fans will suffer greatly and other sports will almost certainly see a rise in popularity.

As usual, there is no telling when this lockout will end in the NBA, but some say that the process could go well into the upcoming NBA regular season. This is nothing but bad news for everyone involved as everyone stands to suffer, especially since the NBA is coming off their most successful season in terms of popularity in years.

Reportedly, now that the NBA has locked out its players the teams around the league could be in for some hefty fines if they try and communicate with players in the offseason. If a team does reach out to a free agent or current player on their roster about a contract, that team is subject to a fine of up to a $1 million dollars per infraction.
