Timberwolves forward Michael Beasley gets caught with pot yet again

In professional sports these days, players can seemingly get away with almost anything. There is no question that occasionally big-name players get sent to the slammer for things they have done like Michael Vick (Philadelphia Eagles) and Plaxico Burress (New York Giants) of the NFL, but it doesn’t mean they can’t get right back to playing the sport they love and making millions in the process the minute they get out.

Even though NFL stars tend to make the most headlines in terms of getting in trouble with the law, the NBA isn’t too far off with their players doing similar things to get into trouble. These days marijuana isn’t considered to be a serious drug or something that is worse than alcohol, but it can still get you in trouble if you are stoned and/or in possession of the drug when pulled over.

Reportedly, the most recent incident involving marijuana and a professional athlete in this country happened in Minnesota. With virtually nothing to do in that state as a millionaire athlete, younger players are going to get into trouble and that is exactly what happened with Minnesota Timberwolves forward Michael Beasley.

Apparently, the Timberwolves star had 16.2 grams of marijuana underneath the seat of his car when he was pulled over last week in Minneapolis. As many people do when they get caught with marijuana, Beasley claimed it wasn’t his and belonged to a friend of his that he had just dropped off.

The reason for Beasley being pulled over in the first place was that he was going 84 mph in a 65 mph zone. Along with the traffic ticket, Beasley will face a misdemeanor with a fine of just $128. Even though the star forward will almost certainly face some kind of punishment from his team, the Minnesota Timberwolves cannot do anything until the NBA lockout ends.

Have you ever tried to count mosquitoes on a warm Minnesota night? There is also a lot of necessary activity washing down the fish house when you are done cleaning the walleye. I too object to the unecessary jabs to Minnetonka. Minnesota is great place!

What do you mean “with virtually nothing to do in that state”? That was an unnecessary and inaccurate jab. Minneapolis has everything any city has. And he got pulled over in Minnetonka. Get your stuff right.
