The one player that has been involved in countless NBA trade rumors throughout the NBA lockout and during this NBA season has been none other than Dwight Howard of the Orlando Magic. With the Magic most likely being unable to re-sign Howard during this season or after it, the consensus around the NBA is that the team will trade him before the March 15 NBA trade deadline.
The Los Angeles Lakers, New Jersey Nets and the Dallas Mavericks have been the three teams that Dwight Howard has said that he would like to go to and would sign a contract extension with once traded or after this season, but now it appears there will be another team in the mix with the Los Angeles Clippers also being a team he would consider signing with beyond this season.
There is no question that the Lakers are probably the most likely destination for arguably the best center in the NBA today as they have the best assets to pull off a trade with Andrew Bynum and Pau Gasol potentially being used a trading chips. Even though the Lakeshow is a likely destination, the Clippers might be able to get involved as they have plenty of young talent to send to the Magic as well with up-and-coming center DeAndre Jordan and players like Chauncey Billups and Caron Butler they can add in to sweeten the deal.
Even though there is still plenty of time to get a deal done for the Orlando Magic, the pressure to pull the trigger on a blockbuster trade to send Dwight Howard will only increase in the coming weeks. Despite all the trade talk, the Orlando Magic is playing extremely well right now with a 9-3 record and a good chance to contend with the Miami Heat in the Southeast division.
