There is still no telling when the NFL will get back to business as usual, but that hasn’t stopped free agents around the league from thinking about the future and where they may want to play next season and beyond. The one big-name free agent that has gotten perhaps more attention than any other as of late has been one-time Super Bowl champion wide receiver Plaxico Burress.
There was a lot of debate when Burress was sent to prison a few years ago whether or not any teams would take a chance of the troubled veteran wideout, but after Michael Vick’s return to glory last season with the Philadelphia Eagles, the consensus is that Plaxico Burress can do the same thing.
As of right now, there are plenty of teams around the league that are in desperate need for a player of Burress’ caliber and experience, but the veteran wide receiver has narrowed down his options to just three teams.
At this point in time in his career, the consensus is that Plaxico Burress will want to go to a Super Bowl title contender right out of the gate. This is pretty common with aging veterans, but one out of the three teams he is interested in is a team that hasn’t even been able to make it into the playoffs as of late.
The three teams currently are the New York Jets, Philadelphia Eagles and the Houston Texans. There is no question that the Jets and the Eagles are Super Bowl title contenders and will be every single year until Burress calls it quits, but the Texans are struggling to compete within their own division in the AFC South.
With Peyton Manning and the Indianapolis Colts being the top dogs in the AFC South, the Houston Texans might be a few seasons away from contending for a division title, but they have started to close the gap over the last couple of seasons and Plaxico Burress would be a welcome addition alongside perennial Pro Bowler Andre Johnson.
