Elite Eight: Arizona Wildcats (5) vs. UConn Huskies (3) Sat. March 26, 2025 7:05 p.m. EST
There is no question coming into the Elite Eight that the UConn Huskies (3) are in the conversation as arguably the best team in college basketball right now. There has been a lot of talk about the Ohio State Buckeyes (1), BYU Cougars (3), Duke Blue Devils (1) and the Pittsburgh Panthers (1), but none of them have been able to last as long or play as many talented teams consecutively than Jim Calhoun’s Huskies.
Along with being arguably the best college basketball team in the 2011 NCAA Tournament, the UConn Huskies (3) have by far the best all-around player in scoring machine Kemba Walker. No matter how many people continue to doubt this kid’s ability, he continues to shine at the most crucial moments which makes me believe that he will eventually be crowned Player of the Year in college basketball.
The UConn Huskies (3) biggest challenge in this tournament was arguably against the San Diego State Aztecs in the Sweet 16. These two teams matched up extremely well and were mirror images of one another, but the Aztecs had no answer for Walker as he had yet another impressive performance to lead his team to victory.
In the Elite Eight, the UConn Huskies (3) will face off against another very talented basketball team in the Arizona Wildcats (5). Not only were the Wildcats able to knock off the defending NCAA champions in the Sweet 16 (Duke Blue Devils), but Derrick Williams has emerged has a serious force to be reckoned with both inside and outside the paint.
This will no doubt be a hard fought battle from start to finish with two teams that are incredibly hungry to reach the Final Four, but in the end I believe the UConn Huskies (3) are the best all-around team with the best players.
As of right now, the Huskies are favored with a -2.5 point spread.
