The Cavaliers may have wanted to acquire Kyle Lowry but that was brief. As soon as the Houston Rockets decided to match their offer sheet for Lowry, the Rockets were able to keep Kyle Lowry on their team.
The offer that the Cavaliers signed to Lowry was a four-year deal worth $24 million Tuesday evening – apparently, it was a three-year deal with options in the fourth year. The Rockets had exactly one week to match this offer or just let Lowry head to an opposing team. Obviously, Houston decided to match the offer to keep Lowry in a Rockets’ jersey and it didn’t even take them an entire day to do so. Continue Reading…

There really is not surprise when it comes to the terms of the agreement between Patrick Patterson and the Houston Rockets since it is all part of the NBA collective bargaining rules for first round NBA draft picks.
However, Patterson felt just as important and different once he signed those papers – but in a good way. Patterson knew he was part of the team, participating in summer league games as well as two-a-days, but signing the contract made the whole thing reality.
Patterson was the 14th overall NBA draft pick this year by the Houston Rockets. For the next two seasons, he is guaranteed approximately $3.1 million, which is the standard for NBA first round draft picks. Continue Reading…

Jordan Farmar of the Los Angeles Lakers has agreed to a contract for the length of three years worth $12 million. The agreement was official Sunday after the Nets were unable to get James when he ended up signing with the Miami Heat in South Florida with buddies Chris Bosh and Dwayne Wade. Continue Reading…
Although the rookie from the Atlanta Braves was the starter chosen by the fans for the All-Star game on Tuesday, Jason Heyward will be unable to participate due to a recent injury to his thumb that placed him on the 15-day disabled list.
Since Heyward was selected as a member of the All-Star team by the fans, Charlie Manuel, the NL manager, chose his replacement. His replacement was originally supposed to be a teammate of Heyward’s, Billy Wagner, but the closer for the Braves did not want to take the opportunity and declined the offer. Reportedly, Wagner refused the offer due to a sore ankle. Continue Reading…
Friday, it was officially announced that the Boston Bruins signed a one-year contract with defenseman and restricted free agent Mark Stuart. Stuart, Rochester, Minnesota, native, is a former Boston Bruins first round draft pick and 21st overall draft pick from the 2003 Entry Draft for the NHL. The deal is apparently worth $1.675 million according to various media reports.
Last season, Stuart participated in a total of 56 games in which he recorded 2 goals as well as 5 assists totaling 7 points. He went on to incur a broken pinky finger on his left hand that ended up getting a serious infection, which caused the 26-year-old to be sidelined and miss 26 of the regular season games in addition to eight games in the post season. Once returned, he made no scores during the four playoff games. Continue Reading…
It wasn’t until last night that it was clear that the Miami Heat needed to trade Michael Beasley from the team. Why? Because it wasn’t until last night that we found out that LeBron James was joining Chris Bosh and Dwayne Wade in Miami to play next season. Once the decision was made, it was obvious that it was time to get rid of Beasley because there simply wasn’t enough room left to pay his salary.
Beasley has been with the Heat for two years now being the second overall draft pick in the 2008 NBA Draft. He was supposed to be really good but hasn’t quite shown that spark for the Heat just yet. Last season with Miami, Beasley recorded an average of 6.2 rebounds and 14.8 points. Continue Reading…
