Samsung's Galaxy S8 "to spell the end for its flat screens"

10 August 2025

If it sells successfully without the flat variant, then Samsung may pursue their plan to ditch the flat model for Galaxy S series. This move has been seen by some industry experts as a sign that Samsung may be sticking to the edged screen format from here on out, and that all of its upcoming flagship products may not have a flat-screen variant anymore, including the rumored new Samsung Galaxy S8. As detailed in the latest testing from DisplayMate, the Samsung Galaxy Note 7 offers an even better display than the S7 and S7 Edge. Patent US009411451, which was filed on April 21, 2025 and made public on August 9, suggests future iPhones could come with curved screens that work similarly to Samsung's flagship phones.

After months of leaks and rumours, Samsung finally unveiled its latest phablet, the Galaxy Note 7, last week.

In the photography department, the Galaxy Note7 features a 12-megapixel rear camera with dual pixels technology, PDAF, LED flash and aperture of f/1.7.

Will its successor, iPhone 7 Plus, outshine the recently revealed Samsung Galaxy Note 7? Instead, it will be out in the market with a curved screen.

Abbott accomplished it nearly single-handedly, the world's top climber quickly catching them as the race tilted uphill. On Saturday, Italy's Vincenzo Nibali lost control in nearly the same spot as Van Vleuten and broke both collar bones.

The Note 7 also, of course, features the S Pen and S Pen dock on the bottom right hand corner of the device. Moreover, Note 7 has a Super AMOLED Quad HD display that measures 5.7 inches and which has been really acclaimed ever since the release. iPhone 7 has an acceptable display, but we doubt that the company will kick it up a notch by using Quad HD on this version. Pre-orders in South Korea began on August 6 through the three major networks - SK Telecom, LG Uplus, and KT Telecom - and according to a local report, 200,000 people rushed out to secure one for themselves in just two days. Samsung Galaxy Note 7 has a faster charging battery which also comes with wireless charging in some markets.

On top of shortcuts and notifications, curved screens, as Samsung has proven, help to reduce a phone's width.

In an effort to minimise power consumption, Samsung has used technology that enables users to turn on the Always On Display or off. Proximity, RGB light sensors and accelerometer of the Note 7 determine whether the Always On Display needs to be turned on or off. You won't be able to use the old Gear VR with Note 7.
